So..have
you really thought about the new millennium?
I know we've heard all the Y2K warnings, and we've seen all the
specialty momentoes for sale, but have we really thought about
what it means to enter into the third millennium since the birth of Christ?
I suspect that for many of us, it's still a theory - somewhere "out there"
(even though it may be already here). Like the death of someone far
away whom we rarely see anyway, it's hard to believe it actually happened.
But
pretty soon I guess even I will get used to
writing "2000" on checks and letters and figure out some way of
transcribing my speaking about "women in the nineties" without
actually saying we are "women of the zeroes"!
One thing I have discovered in my life full of changes is that there is One
who NEVER CHANGES ~ God Almighty. So, even though we don't know
what to expect in the new Year2Thousand, we do know that God will
be with us through it all, sure and steadfast, wise and wonderful
beyond imagining. You can't get any better than that!!!
New
Year's Resolutions, anyone?
I thought and thought and realized that every week I say aloud a whole
list of wonderful "resolutions" so why not make them my Year2000
New Year's Resolutions? These are the "common commision" repeated in
each service at my church in Wethersfield, Connecticut (which is, by the
way, 365 years old). If you like them, you can do it too!
Let us now (1) go forth into the world in peace,
(2) being of good courage,
(3) holding fast to that which is good,
(4) rendering to no one evil for evil,
(5) strengthening the fainthearted,
(6) supporting the weak,
(7) helping the afflicted,
(8) honoring all persons,
(9) loving and serving the Lord
and (10) rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
